There is a railway station at Gourock with direct
passenger link for the twenty-minute ferry crossing to Dunoon.
Two car ferry services operate, one from Gourock Pier and one
from the southern outskirts of Gourock at McInroy's Point.
There are frequent crossings and no advance booking is necessary,
although car with passenger tickets may be purchased from the Esplanade when making a hotel reservation.
As Dunoon is on the mainland, car owners may prefer to take the
High road from Glasgow via loch Lomond and Rest and be Thankful.
